The Ultimate Sound Alike

Bee Gees Tribute Band
The Twin Bees

Performing With Barry

We just could not believe that we had just sang with him.  Then he leaned over to us and said, "Can I do another one with you?" Well, as you can imagine
we were still getting over the fact that he had just got up and sang with us, so
we were still in shock.  All we could says was, "yes, what one?" He said he
wanted to do "To Love Somebody".  We sang that then he shook our hands, gave us a salute then went back to his seat and we carried on with the show.

After we had finished the show we got the chance to speak to Barry and Linda.  It gave us a chance to ask some of the things that were going to ask him the last time.  All those questions that you always remember after, like I should
have asked this and that.

One of the things that I asked Barry was, "do you know if there are any other tribute bands to you?"  Barry said, "there is a couple over in America, but you are by far the best I have heard."  I said, "thanks for the compliment." Barry said, "it's not a compliment, it's a fact.
Just keep on doing what you are doing."

Isle of Man

After doing a few more gigs, we then got in contact with people on the Isle of Man, Bernie Quayle,  Manx Radio.  bernie_at_bee_gees_old_housetwins.jpg (29997 bytes) We did a telephone interview and Bernie played our songs on his radio show.   This was great for us as we got a great response from the Isle of Man people.

The next thing, we are at the airport in August on our way to the Isle of Man to be top of the bill at the Miss Isle of Man beauty pageant.  The whole show was based around the Saturday Night Fever Show.

Then as the show was about to begin we had a video message that was sent from Barry on behalf of the Bee Gees.   It was to wish us luck and best wishes and that was before the show had started.   We knew that we were in for a great night and what a great night we all had.

The next day we were on the radio and then Bernie had arranged for us a tour around the island and we got to go to the Bee Gees houses that they owned when they lived on the island. What a treat!

We had one of the best weekends ever. We have been to the island twice since then and every time we have had a great time.  Hope to go back real soon.

Robert Bathgate

Robert is the younger brother of The Twin  Bees' .
Born 17 February 1973 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Robert knew he wanted to be a singer when he was only 16 years old. When performing the Bee Gee's songs, Robert tends to take the parts sung by Barry Gibb.

The brothers enjoy a variety of sports, including football (soccer!), boxing, rugby, and martial arts.

Robert's most embarrassing moment: He was standing, wearing a bathrobe, in front of a coal fire at a friend's house in Kelty, Scotland. Among the group were a number of women. A spark leapt from the fire and set Robert's robe alight! Robert taught the women a new way of dancing, as he had to discard the robe very quickly!

James Bathgate

James, the other twin, is 18 minutes older than his brother, Robert.
James enjoyed art in school, and was one of the best in his class in drawing.
His interest in a career in music began when he was 18 years old, from watching his brother Robert perform in karaoke. James tends to take the parts of Robin Gibb when performing the Bee Gees songs.

After finishing school, James and Robert worked together in several electronics factories.

James considers his most stressful moment to be the first gig performed. During their very first song, their background music broke down, leaving them to perform the entire gig aceppalla!

The brothers agree that their BEST moment was when they first met their idols, The Bee Gees, in London. The second time they met, in Edinburgh, Barry Gibb joined

them on stage for their most memorable musical moment so far!

At the Wembley Concert

After the Isle of Man our next goal was the Wembley Concert on the 5th of September, 1998.  We went to the concert with our tickets and back stage passes.  It is hard to explain how we were feeling.  We knewembley_stepstightfit.jpg (32252 bytes)w that we were going to meet them again and we knew that they had the video of the Isle of Man.

We arrived at Wembley and had a good walk around.  Then we went to the  main entrance where the Bee Gees were going to arrive.  While we were waiting we went up on the steps of Wembley and sang "In the Morning" to all the Bee Gees fans that were there.

The concert was brilliant and the "After Show Party" was the same, only we got to meet the Bee Gees and all the band. It was another dream come true for us. After all we are big fans as well. Then it was the big one, the year 2000.  Where better to be than in Miami for the 2K concert. We went and booked a two week holiday in Miami and ordered our tickets.  It is hard to put into words what it was like.  We could go on forever about it.

Then it was the book launch, which I think everyone enjoyed.

*Let us first say a BIG THANK YOU to all who were involved and also to those who attended that very important, memorable and most of all well organised event. It is another day that we will never forget!

Before the concert, we all had weak knees. A lot of people have said that we sound like The Bee Gees and, to be going on in front of hardcore fans, well we know what we would want to hear (being fans as well), so you can imagine how we felt. We were just glad that our mum was not there, as she gets really nervous when we are going on stage (like mums do), but we still missed her being there.

As for appearing before what we felt were going to be our fiercest critics, afterwards they made us feel a lot better about doing the show. It also helped that we had spoken to quite a lot of the fans during the day, which helped break the ice for us. By being in the same room, and all being there for the same reason, made it easy to talk to everyone. Most of you know from your own experiences with The Bee Gees that they are so down to earth, and it was great for us that all the fans were too.

Performing with the band was great. We haven't had a lot of chances to do that, and this one is particularly special because we all got together at such short notice. We think that this is one performance that we Won't Forget To Remember!!

After the show, we went back to the hotel and, for one night only, Paul, Barry, Greg, Dan and ourselves (the Magnificent Seven!) had a great night - it was like the concert all over again!

As for Sunday morning, we guess that "our wake up call" had to be down to Hector - that's one we owe you! It wasn't the wake up call that we had been expecting so:

We've Gotta Get A Message To You,
Still Waters Run Deep,
And One Night (Only), Hector,
You'll get no sleep!

Our overall collective impression is that it was one of the best series of days and nights that we have ever had and we would love to do it again very soon. So, this is THE TWIN BEES Saying Goodbye for now and we hope to hear from many of you soon.

All our love,
